I have been a cleaning machine lately during these hot late afternoons. Both the refrigerator and freezer have been at the top of my list. The freezer is there because I like to use up all the frozen veggies from last year before my garden excess from this year kicks in. The refrigerator is there because it is the recipient of these thawing items along with the cooked leftovers.
I have stumbled on a mighty little item that works great at keeping odors away. On a shopping trip through TJ Maxx, I saw Mister Magic nestled among the enormous selection of small kitchen items. It was less than $3 and I thought I would give it a try.
I promptly put the sunny yellow egg shaped container to use in my refrigerator, which was easy because all you do is remove the sealed top. It’s a self-contained concentrated superpower that is small, so it doesn’t take up a lot of space and is refreshingly lemon scented. I put it on the middle shelf in the back, just above the crisper drawers. Then my harvest of onions occurred so I knew it would rise to the task or sink like a stone. I had a crisper full of the harvested onions that I like to chill down for few days before I caramelize them and store long term in the freezer.
Mister Magic was sensational! I have had it in my refrigerator for 63 days and it is still going strong. The odor absorbing “gel” simply diminishes over time as it works. In the meantime, I went back to TJ Maxx to purchase more for my garage refrigerators and to have some replacements on hand. It is an efficient helper for your refrigerator and I give it 5 stars!
