In all my years of cooking, I have never really made crackers before. I’ve enjoyed making cheese straws, parmesan crisps and similar snacks, but now I have a regular recipe that I will be making on a regular basis. It started with a bag of ground flaxseeds that I purchased for another recipe and wanted to use up. These crackers are richly dark and with just enough garlic to make them fine alone or with a dip or spread. They are super healthy and super easy to make. Bon Appetit!
Garlic Flaxseed Crackers
Yield: around 20 crackers
1-1/2 cups ground flaxseeds
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup water
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment and set aside. In a mixing bowl, stir together the flaxseeds, garlic powder, garlic salt and pepper. Make a well in the center and add the water, stirring to form a dough. Transfer the dough to a pasty cloth and roll very thin (1/16th of an inch). With a sharp knife or a pastry wheel, cut the dough into rectangles. Place on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are a half-inch apart. Reroll and scraps to use up the dough. Bake 25-30 minutes or until dry. Cool completely on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.
