Sometimes you stumble upon a hidden gem when looking for a place to eat. Such was the case with Hana Sushi House in Mt. Juliet, TN. I don’t remember what led to our first visit there, but I would guess it was the after-church “where do you want to eat” conversation we have most Sundays. We love sushi, and I realize Mt. Juliet probably doesn’t leap to mind when thinking about good sushi restaurants…but perhaps it should.

Hana Sushi House is tucked away in the corner of a strip center behind the Cracker Barrel in Mt. Juliet. Coincidentally, it is next door to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, and that’s probably what led us there in the first place.

Hana Sushi House feels authentic, and the sushi chef is highly-skilled. Best of all, the quality of the sushi is consistently excellent. Hana Sushi House is a full-service sushi bar, but they also serve other Asian dishes if sushi is not your thing.

On Sundays, it’s buy-one-get-one-half-off for sushi rolls, which is a decent deal. On this day, however, we both ordered Maki sets. Michelle got the two-roll Maki with a salad, ($7.95) and I ordered the three-roll Maki with a salad ($9.95). Between the two of us, we had Spicy Crab Rolls, Spicy Tuna Rolls, and Philly Rolls. In each case, the seafood in each was fresh, and the flavor was fantastic.

If you prefer sushi or sashimi, they have that, as well. They also serve Miso Soup, Gyoza, Chicken or Shrimp Tempura, and Teriyaki/Katsu/Hibachi Dinner. Hana also has dessert for those with a sweet tooth. For a peek at the full menu, click here.

We’ve been there many times over the years, and I’ve never once had to wait for a table. Considering the quality of the food and service, that’s amazing. You definitely need to put Hana Sushi House on your list of favorite sushi bars.
